Arshad
ArshadArshad Khaliq has served as a Board Member at YMCA Doncaster since 2014.

Born in Accrington in Lancashire, a strategic move led Arshad and his family to Doncaster following his graduation from university.

Arshad’s first job arose when his college lecturer recruited him and six other students to help with data entry on a part time basis.

“I was the slowest, but my competitive nature motivated me to become faster on each sitting so I could outperform my colleagues.”

Due to the monotonous nature of the data entry, the other students decided to quit after the first few weeks. Arshad continued trying to exceed expectations.

“I had made such a good impression with the Data Manager, at the end of the month she informed me I was the only one who had turned up regularly and offered me a further five months employment.”

Now with over 20 years experience of digital expertise, Arshad has an excellent understanding of major IT enabled change. He is an experienced Programme / Project manager having worked within large private and complex public sector organisations, most notably the NHS.

In addition to his career in Information Technology, Arshad has been actively involved in managing, renovating and developing properties for over twenty five years.

Arshad has a passion to continue his professional development and attended Harvard Business School for a Leadership Development Program in 2015. He also recently completed an MBA with applied research focusing on Board effectiveness. He is a qualified PRINCE 2 practitioner and a Managing Successful Programs (MSP) practitioner.

With a genuine desire to serve non-profit organisations, he is filled with enthusiasm about working with YMCA Doncaster:

“YMCA provides a most needed local service for young people and I feel privileged to work amidst talented and committed Board Members, ultimately ensuring we continue to serve vulnerable people in our community.”

In his spare time, Arshad can be found taking his children on outings, looking after his KOI fish and watching building, construction or engineering programmes.

It seems Arshad has always been the competitive type and always up for a challenge, having taken part in the Krypton Factor assault course whilst at school.
