On Friday 10th March we were joined by a great group of people who took part in Sleep Easy and slept rough so others don’t have to.
Although the weather was dry and it wasn’t the coldest night, it was still a tricky challenge to complete but everyone did it!
Our participants took part in activities surrounding the theme of the event, and were treated to hot drinks before bedding down in their cardboard shelters to reflect on the issues facing homeless people in our town.
“When it came to actually getting in our cardboard shelter, and listening to the sounds in the street, I realised how lucky we are to have a home to go to. The idea of sleeping out every night is not a fun one at all, it’s sad that it is a reality for some people.”
~ Katy, Fundraiser
So how much did we raise?
Sponsorship for the event is still being collected, so we don’t have a final figure to release yet. However, we do know that we have just hit £5,000 and the figure is still rising.
If you missed out on sponsoring us, please don’t worry, as you can still donate by clicking here.
Thank you to everyone who took part in Sleep Easy 2017 and to those who sponsored us and shared information about Sleep Easy via social media.
We would also like to thank Lindsey at The Apothecary Salon for donating prizes for our “Best Shelter” competition; it’s great that a local business can support a local charity to make a difference in their own town.
Sleep Easy 2018
