” I get so much pleasure in knowing that client is moving into a home and I have seen that process through from the start.”
Becky has worked for YMCA Doncaster in the position of Housing Quality Administrator since September 2019.
Born and raised in Doncaster, Becky spends her spare time with her husband and daughter Molly, visiting the local Wildlife Park. Becky also enjoys spending time with Molly and their Mummy and Baby friends who they met at various baby groups.
When Becky isn’t “Mummying” she enjoys going out for meals with friends and nights out to watch her husband’s band.
Becky’s first job was at a hotel, where she worked as a waitress at events such as weddings and at birthday and Christmas parties.
“I loved that job. It taught me to think on my feet and work at a very fast pace. It also taught me how to work as part of a team and encourage people to keep going. It taught me how to talk to different people from all walks of life and how to adapt to a quick changing environment.”
Becky attended university and completed a degree in HR. She decided that she wanted to utilise her degree, but wanted the opportunity to sell and earn bonuses too. She decided that Recruitment would give her the best opportunity to utilise her skill sets and became an Education Recruitment Branch Manager.
“I started in accountancy recruitment and tried the commercial world, but I knew I had found the right career, at that stage in my life, when I found education recruitment. I need to care about the work I do and I genuinely believe in the importance of supply teaching in schools to continue children’s education when their permanent teacher is unable to be there.”
Becky found YMCA Doncaster when she was on maternity leave;
“I was looking for a role which gave me that same reason to care about the importance of the work I do and I found that with YMCA Doncaster. The role worked perfectly around being able to have a career again, as well as being a Mummy, which was perfect for me and my family.”
The role of Housing Quality Administrator is a varied role which sees Becky dealing with accommodation applications, rent, standard checking, resident rewards and monitoring and reporting. She gets enjoyment from all aspects of her work but there is a particular element she really gets excited about;
“I get most excited when I know a client is moving in, as I have dealt with them from application stage, references and taking them through to the interview stage. I get so much pleasure in knowing that client is moving into a home and I have seen that process through from the start.”
