I’ve really enjoyed being involved in a number of fundraising events. And on a daily basis I personally see those who benefit from these efforts – I’m so happy to be a part of it.
Nikki has worked for YMCA Doncaster as Personnel Administrator since June 2019.
Since joining the team, Nikki has been on a mission for efficiency: getting things off paper and creating an online filing system, handling all the behind-the-scenes admin, as well as supporting our Chief Executive and the general team.
“It can be a fairly ad hoc role,” she explained. “And I love that about it.”
Before joining us, Nikki worked various jobs from helping out with her Aunt and Uncle’s textiles shop, to working in a supermarket, to leading the Data Management team for an insurance solutions provider. She then became a stay-at-home mum for five years until her youngest child was at school. But she told us how this experience changed her perspective on work: “I knew I didn’t want to return to the private financial sector environment. Going to work is time away from my family, so I need to be somewhere with job satisfaction.
“Coming across this position at YMCA Doncaster instantly felt like the right path!”
She explained why: “I’ve really enjoyed being involved in a number of fundraising events. And on a daily basis I personally see those who benefit from these efforts – I’m so happy to be a part of it.”
Both a qualified yoga instructor and keen runner, Nikki may be one of the sportiest members of our team – she completed her first half marathon when her son was three and her daughter was two (shaving 20 minutes off her expected finish time)! “After that, I got the running bug,” she laughed.
