Every day is different and being part of a team that can make so much difference to someone’s life is really rewarding.
Paul has worked for YMCA Doncaster in the position of Housing Worker since July 2019, and was promoted to Premises Manager from April 2020.
Born in Hemsworth, Paul states his journey to Doncaster “was a very long and varied trip!”
Paul spent many years in the Royal Air Force, but prior to that he worked briefly in a bacon factory, a motorcycle showroom and a butchers.
“I worked all over the world, saw many things, learnt new skills and worked with people that have become lifelong friends.”
Before joining the team at YMCA Doncaster Paul worked as a Traffic Officer, but his desire to do something different and truly make a difference to someone’s life brought him to apply for the role of Housing Worker.
In the role of Housing Worker, Paul had particular responsibilities for maintaining the security of the accommodation and providing a professional service.
“Every day is different and being part of a team that can make so much difference to someone’s life is really rewarding.”
Within only a few months of starting work with YMCA Doncaster, Paul was nominated by colleagues for a Kudos Award which recognises particular contributions to YMCA values.
He states that he is very proud to have been awarded the Kudos Award in such a short space of time working here.
Paul involves himself with a lot of charity work, having once pushed a bathtub on wheels from Selby to Scarborough, which is a distance of 55 miles! His next challenge will see him riding 1000 miles in 24 hours on his motorcycle. Good luck with that Paul!
