No single day goes by without a new exciting challenge or something to get my teeth into.

Kev has worked at YMCA Doncaster since December 2021.

He originally joined the team as a Relief Housing Worker over Christmas, kindly providing additional holiday cover so that other people could spend time with their families.

It didn’t take long for Kev to settle into life at YMCA Doncaster and he soon became a full-time staff member, taking on the role of our Facilities Manager.

Kev is now responsible for overseeing our site’s general maintenance and repairs, including the Health & Safety of all staff and visitors. The role certainly keeps him on his toes!

“No single day goes by without a new exciting challenge or something to get my teeth into. Keeping the buildings safe and in good repair is of utmost importance in the Supported Accommodation to ensure our young adults have a safe space to call home.”

Kev’s first job role was as a Quality Control Officer in the repairs centre of a telecommunications company, which he says taught him the “importance of working accurately with good communication.”

Before joining the staff team at YMCA Doncaster Kev worked at a call centre specialising in telecommunications as a Network and Maintenance Coordinator.

“I was once awarded the Unsung Hero Award at a company I used to work for, the ironic thing was I was so ‘unsung’ they forgot to tell me I’d won it, or invite me to the awards do, instead it was left on my desk”

Luckily Kev’s work at YMCA Doncaster doesn’t go unnoticed or unsung, we’re glad to have him!
