We are looking for friendly, well-organised people to assist with our charity shop and online retail, with potential to create online sales and develop new income for YMCA Doncaster. 

You will be working across all aspects of charity retail, including receiving donations from the local people who support our shop, helping customers and helping to make sure that the shop is clean and tidy. 

This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in retail work or looking for a career in charity fundraising.

Hours of Work

25 hours per week. 

Wednesdays 9.30am to 1.30pm (including staff time / training) and 2pm to 5.30pm (planning and admin time)

Other days will be on a rota including Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 9.30am to 3pm with a half hour break.

Job Description

To assist with serving customers in our charity shop. 

To assist with keeping the charity shop clean and tidy. 

To receive and sort donations from local people. 

To operate systems for selling items online, including packaging and posting appropriately. 

To create social media posts / blog posts showing our retail services in a positive way. 

To develop appropriate professionalism and boundaries, and to maintain those at all times. 

To carry out other retail-related tasks as required. 

Person Specification – Please ensure that your application clearly demonstrates how you meet each of the criteria below.

Able to be friendly and helpful with lots of different people, particularly shop customers, donors, volunteers and staff. 

Able to support the Shop Supervisor in their work, and to cover for their holidays / absence when confident to do so. 

Able to communicate in writing to a good standard, suitable for creating professional online sales listings. 

Able to use computer systems and apps for selling items online. 

Able to help YMCA supporters to use a computer tablet for registering their donations to the shop. 

Able to show reliability and good organisational skills. 

Able to work within YMCA Doncaster’s policies and procedures. 

A DBS check will be required for this position (YMCA will pay for this).
