I have a passion for helping people with complex issues and was presented with the GEM award, which is for NHS staff that go the extra mile for patients.

Stuart Green has served as a Board Member of YMCA Doncaster since 2017.

Born in Newcastle, Stuart moved to Doncaster over 25 years ago and now works as a Service Manager within the NHS, specialising in drug and alcohol recovery.

Stuart was recently invited to present to the UN in Vienna about the work he is involved in regarding effective recovery, and stated that he had felt encouraged that other countries had shown a keen interest in what was happening in Doncaster.

With recovery and wellbeing at the heart of the work Stuart is involved in he was delighted to be recognised for his commitment;

“I have a passion for helping people with complex issues and was presented with the GEM award, which is for NHS staff that go the extra mile for patients.”

Stuart began his working life in a computer shop and states that this was the place he had his first experiences of dealing with the public, something which he puts to good use in his current role.

The idea of becoming a Board Member at YMCA Doncaster interested Stuart as it gives him the opportunity to share his skills in service development. He states that he is excited about his role on the Board and what the future has in store for the Association;

“I’m glad to be a part of helping YMCA Doncaster be the change needed, and helping to take it forward in to having a wider presence in the support of young people in Doncaster.”

In his spare time Stuart can be found riding his Harley. He also has a hidden talent; he is able to juggle a diablo!
