I wanted to start giving something back to my local community and, in particular, have a positive influence on young people who have not been given the same opportunities in life as I had.
Chelsea Khan has been a Trustee of YMCA Doncaster since November 2024.
Chelsea is Doncaster born and bred, having grown up in Armthorpe and attended Armthorpe Comprehensive. A competitive swimmer during her youth, she frequently competed across South Yorkshire before becoming a lifeguard and qualified swimming instructor while studying for her A levels.
She went on to study Accounting and Financial Management at the University of Hull, graduating with first-class honours. Chelsea then joined the graduate scheme at Grant Thornton Sheffield, where she has progressed to her current role as Audit Senior Manager.
When asked about why she wanted to support YMCA Doncaster, Chelsea said: “I had a solid upbringing, with supporting parents, family and friends around me, but from a young age, through school and beyond, I recognised that not everyone has those simple childhood foundations that can set you up for the future.”
As a Trustee, Chelsea is passionate about helping YMCA Doncaster continue to provide the opportunities and support that young people need to achieve their potential.
Outside of her professional and trustee roles, Chelsea enjoys a busy family life with her two young children, taking them to dancing, football and swimming lessons on the weekend. She is also a proud owner of Ronnie, a goldendoodle, who she loves taking on long walks. To stay active, Chelsea enjoys running, particularly early morning 5k runs in the summer.
