YMCA Doncaster is delighted to announce that Simon Marsh has been appointed as the new Chair of their Board of Trustees.
The charity welcomed Simon as a Trustee in April 2025, and he now steps into the role of Chair at a pivotal time, as they enter a new phase of development focused on expanding the engagement opportunities and housing support for children and young people in Doncaster.
Simon brings over 45 years of experience in the IT industry, holding senior executive positions across the public and private sectors; notably serving as Chief Information Officer for both the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust, before retiring in March 2024.
Having grown up in Doncaster, Simon is deeply committed to the city’s development, and YMCA Doncaster are confident his previous experience on other boards will bring a valuable insight into how strong governance and strategic leadership can shape local communities in positive ways.
When asked about his appointment, Simon said: “After a long and fulfilling career, I’m honoured to step into the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees at YMCA Doncaster, an
organisation that does incredible work with vulnerable children and young people across the city.
“Having lived in Doncaster nearly all my life, I’m looking forward to using my skills to help shape the future of the charity, engaging with the local community to ensure we can continue empowering young people for years to come.”
Welcoming Simon into his new role, YMCA Doncaster’s Chief Executive, Louise Roffey, added: “Simon’s wealth of experience and strong commitment to our community makes him a fantastic addition to the team. His leadership will, no doubt, help us to build on our achievements and explore new ways of supporting those we serve.”
