We’re proud to share that the 2026 TCS London Marathon will be the first time YMCA Doncaster is represented at this iconic event, with two amazing runners taking on the challenge in our name.

On Sunday 26th April 2026, George (pictured above) and Ellie will join over 50,000 participants on the world-famous 26.2-mile route through London, taking in landmarks such as Tower Bridge, the London Eye, and Buckingham Palace, all while raising vital funds to support children and young people here in Doncaster.

Both runners have a personal connection to YMCA Doncaster and were inspired to take on this once-in-a-lifetime challenge to help us continue delivering our life-changing services.

When asked about how he feels about taking on such an iconic run, George, an Aviation Contracts Manager for Manchester Airport Group, said:

It’s been a dream of mine to participate in the London Marathon ever since I spectated my Dad run for charity in 2016. Having already completed Manchester and Brighton marathons, I’m thrilled to have the chance to finally take on the UK’s largest.

Having grown up near Doncaster, I knew I wanted to opt for a local charity where I’d be able to see the real difference of my fundraising efforts. When the opportunity to run with YMCA Doncaster was offered it was obviously a no-brainer to accept. I’m super excited for the next few months of fundraising, and representing YMCA Doncaster on the start line on the 26th April.

Ellie, an Independent Visitor Volunteer Coordinator with Barnsley Council, also shared:

To say I’m excited about running the London marathon would be a complete understatement, and to be able to run in aid of such a great cause means the world.

Having worked with young people my entire working life, there has never been a more crucial time to support young people in achieving their full potential. Knowing the money I raise will go towards helping some of the most vulnerable children and young people in my local area fills me with immense pride.

We are so proud to have them on Team YMCA Doncaster and can’t wait to follow their training journey over the coming months.
