On Sunday 7th September, three incredible runners formed Team YMCA Doncaster and took on the world’s biggest half marathon, the Great North Run 2025.
Together, Amy, Kier, and Olivia laced up their trainers, braved the 13.1-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields, and raised an amazing £2,059 (at the time of writing) in donations to support YMCA Doncaster’s vital work with local children and young people.
Each of our runners had their own personal reason for taking on this challenge, but they all shared one goal: to make a difference in the lives of the young people we work with. Their commitment, determination and passion shone through every mile.
We’re so proud of everything they achieved and are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated and cheered them on along the way.
When asked about the experience, Amy said:
“Running the Great North Run was such a mix of highs and lows, but the feeling at the end was just incredible – so overwhelming and emotional. YMCA Doncaster were amazing the whole way through, from helping with fundraising ideas and training tips to being there on the day to cheer us on. I honestly couldn’t have done it without them.“
It’s not too late to support them: donations can still be made via their fundraising pages here.
